Do It Anyway

A few weeks ago my grandparents were in Long Beach, MS for a couple days. While they were there they attended mass at a church called St. Thomas. My grandmother picked up the Church's weekly bulletin while they were there. As she was looking through it she came across a small section that was titled: "HANDWRITTEN SIGN FOUND ON THE WALL OF MOTHER TERESA'S ROOM." Her and my grandfather both really loved the message within the writing. As soon as they came home they were eager to share it with me, and they suggested that I share it with all of you on my blog! I read it and quickly agreed that I should turn it into a blog post one week.
So, here it is!

Mother Teresa: "Do It Anyway"

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered.  Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.  Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies.  Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.  Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.  Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.  Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten.  Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.  Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God.  It was never between you and them anyway.

Mother Teresa tells the complete truth in her words above. She definitely shows us what the reality of life is. I think that we are so often discouraged or disappointed in situations that we just give up. When people are unkind to us, we become disheartened, so we just give up. When we are kind we are not shown kindness in return, so we just give up. When we do good, it is often overlooked, so we just give up. When we try our best, some people tell us it is not enough, so we just give up. What would our lives look like if we quit just giving up? Would they be happier and healthier? Most likely, yes. I think too often we let others words and opinions affect us that we end up feeling defeated, so we decide to just give up. When really we should not let their actions or words defeat us because what we do in this world is between us and God, as Mother Teresa said. So my challenge for you this week is to JUST NOT GIVE UP! When you feel defeated by someone or something just shake it off, step away from it, and remember that God always has your back. We should always keep our heads up in times of feeling like giving up because we know that God will always love us anyway.

Have a beautiful week and stay faithful, friends!

Much love,
Gracie
