The Gospel

Last week I talked about God's voice being a whisper and how we can only hear His whisper if we draw near to Him. I thought today I would continue with this idea of drawing near to God. I want to share what I believe to be one of the best ways to come closer to God: the Gospel. The word "gospel" means "good news." Christians are constantly talking about "sharing the Gospel," which also means sharing "the Good News of Jesus Christ!" The Gospel is a message from God saying, "Good News! Here in this book you will discover exactly how much you are loved by me."

The Gospel is a place we can freely go to. We can learn more about our Father and the salvation he has for us through the Gospel. Each page reveals a new understanding about Him and how much he loves us. The Gospel leads us to understanding the truth, but most importantly it leads us closer to God.

I read a quote one time that said, "Dig into the Word, and He will give you the songs to sing." This means that if we read and listen closely to the Gospel then God will fill us with love and knowledge to go out and spread the Gospel with everyone. 

The Gospel is our way to the Lord. It is a cure to our sins, a home when we feel lost, and a shining light when our world seems dark. The Gospel is a place where we can go to allow God to come into our lives. It is a place we can go to find God and grow closer Him. As Ryan Stevenson says, "It's the Gospel that makes a way."
