Showing Gratitude-Veteran's Day

As most of you know, yesterday, November 11, was Veteran's Day, a day designated for the remembrance of all our U.S. military veterans past and present! Veteran's Day has been a federal holiday here in the United States since 1926! I have never appreciated Veteran's Day more than I have this year. While I was out of town over the weekend I met many members of our military because the hotel that I was staying at was hosting a Marine Ball in honor of the Marine Corps Birthday, which was on November 10. Each time one of the Marines came by one of us would try and say, "Thank you for your service." It was really sweet to hear their responses. Some of them just simply said, "Thank you." Others said, "It is my pleasure." I even remember one saying, "I really don't do much, but you're welcome." One Marine stopped and spoke to us for about five minutes. He even gave us a history on his uniform, which was really interesting to hear about.
This Veteran's Day allowed me to be more thankful for the service our military does. They risk so much to defend US! I think this Veteran's Day was so special because I was able to actually see so many people who fight for our country. I'm sure I see many military members and veterans every day, but I just don't know it because they are not in uniform. After I have been able to see so many of them and hear their gratitude for our support, I am able to appreciate what they do for us on a whole new level. I hope that you are able to  experience that same thankfulness I felt for all that they do.
It is so important that we show our gratitude for our veterans. They worked so selflessly to defend US. They put their lives at risk for US. They fought for US. They need to know that we support them because all they did and continue to do is really for US. God gave them the gift of being a fighter for their country. He knew they could do it, and they felt his calling. I am sure deciding to join the military is a difficult decision for some people, so it is so important that we support them in their decision and show our thankfulness for them. I encourage you to continuously thank God for the people he placed on this earth to fight for us. I also encourage you to thank a veteran or military member for their courage and service next time you come in contact with one. I know they will greatly appreciate it.

Love,
Gracie
