Be a Champion Who Champions

When you hear the word champion what is the first thing that comes to your mind?
Be honest with yourself and think about it for a second...

What did you come up with? I am going to take a wild guess that probably one of the things that came to your mind was "winner." Champions are winners. Okay...I agree with you. But now I want you to think a little more. When you think of a champion as a winner what do you see these champions winning at?

Think about it for a second....

Now, whatever your thoughts are I want you to keep them with you. Write them down on a piece of scratch paper or something and save it until you finish reading this blog. We are going to see your idea of a champion morphs into something a little deeper once you finish reading.

When we hear the word champion the first thing that usually comes to mind is "winner." We are always hearing champion used as a noun: the champion of our tournament, the champion of our contest, etc. We never hear champion used as a verb. If you are like me then some of you may not have even realized that champion could be used in another way besides as a noun. A while back, I heard someone say, "Champion one another on." I instantly fell in love with this idea and this phrase because it uses the word "champion" in such a unique way. This way truly undermines what most of us would consider to be the correct way to use the word "champion." It puts everything into a new light, and I just knew I had to share my feelings on it with you!

Here's the backstory:
The Lord has gone before and placed each and every one of us on a platform. These platforms are hand maid by God to be unique for each individual person. On these platforms God has inscribed his plan for our lives. He has given us a firm foundation, so that on these platforms we as humans are able to grow. However, sometimes we can be pushed off of our platforms when we are led to believing things that are not in accordance with God's story for our lives. When someone tells you something that makes you feel unworthy, not beautiful, or weak you are pushed off your platform because these things are not in accordance with God's plan for your life. Whens someone tells you something negative about you then it can be hard to stay on your platform. Because the words of a peer can be more influential sometimes than the words of God, so we believe what our peers say which leads us in a completely different way from God. We fall off our platform because we are no longer listening to God. We are listening to the lies of those around us. On your platform God wants you to fulfill his plan for your life. He wants you to grow on your platform. He wants to see the seeds that he planted in your heart grow, so that you can be lifted up and made stronger. He wants you to stand firm on your platform because he has given you a beautiful life that you should be so excited to grow in.

It is our job as humans, who are all learning how to be more confident in God's plan, to share the good news with others that God has a good plan for them too. You see, we all are on this earth for the same purpose, but we all just have been given different platforms--different foundations--because God has a unique plan for each of us. None of us have the exact same plan! We must not bring others down off of their platforms and lead them away from God's plan by telling them they are unworthy or incapable. But instead, we must build one another up on our platforms, so that we can all help each other fulfill our purposes. We must CHAMPION one another on.

Now we are back to that word "champion."

To champion means to "support the cause of; defend." So what does it mean when we say that we must champion one another on? Think about it. To me, it means that we must encourage one another, defend each other and support one another, so that we can all be lead to fulfilling our purposes. When we are reminded of our beauty, worth, and capability we are able to be who God has created us to be; we are able to fulfill our purpose.

When you see something beautiful in someone--tell them.
When you see someone lost--guide them.
When you see someone being negative--give them hope.
When you see someone forgetting who they truly are in God's eyes--remind them.
When you see someone in the dark--speak light.
When you see someone who is struggling.--cheer for them.
We you see someone who has fallen off their platform and is going astray from God's plan for their life--champion them.

Be the one who sees the good in someone. Don't be the one who pushes them off their platform. Because after all, we are all here for the same purpose: to glorify God and lead others to him.
So be the one who champions. Be the person who because they lift others up they themselves are also lifted up.

It's not all about winning. It's not all about lifting yourself up. It's not about seeing yourself as the winner. It's about building another person up, so that they can see the greater picture of who they are. Help someone else see that they are beautiful and because of that beauty they are able to fulfill God's purpose for their life. By telling someone that you see something beautiful in them you can completely change the course of their life into something good. You can make them feel like a champion because of their beauty, which can ultimately make yourself feel like a champion too.

I encourage you from this day forward to be a CHAMPION in this world who CHAMPIONS others. Tell others the good you see n them, not the bad--that will only push them off their platform. Cheer others on, so that they may feel worthy and beautiful. Speak truth. Speak light. Speak life. And because you do these things and because of all the lives that you champion you yourself can then become a true champion.

BE A CHAMPION WHO CHAMPIONS.

So to be a champion who champions...what does it mean to you?

Have a great week and stay faithful, friends!

Much love,
Gracie
