God Is Still Speaking
As an eighth grader I was asked, along with every other student in my grade, to select a quote for the yearbook. This was easy for most people, but difficult for me. I had the hardest time deciding on what quote I should submit. I wanted the quote I chose to be perfect, and the perfect quote was just not out there. I then decided that I would just settle for something simple. As I was narrowing down all the simple quotes that I liked, I came across the PERFECT quote that I had been looking for the whole time. Today, I want to share that PERFECT quote with you! Here it is:
"Never place a period where God has placed a comma."
I know it seems short and simple, but when I first read this quote it seemed perfect. I think it seemed so perfect because I connected so well with it. I understood its imagery and I related it to my own life. I then instantly fell I love with this quote and the symbolism within it. I want to share what this quote means to me with you today! Hopefully you will fall in love with the meaning behind it and relate it to your own life as well!
I connected with this quote, and I find it worth sharing because it deals with giving up. I don't know about you, but I find myself wanting to give up quite a bit. When times get difficult and the path before me seems unclear I just feel like giving up. In the moment it seems like the easiest resort--to just give up. However, while it may seem like the best decision in the moment it is actually the worst decision. Giving up is the worst decision because it means that you are putting a huge blocker in the plan that God has written for your life. In this quote the blocker would be the period. We often find ourselves placing periods in the story that God has written. When we feel tired and like we cannot continue because things have gotten hard we simply pencil in a period to relieve ourselves from the stress.
I think what we sometimes forget is that God is still speaking. We basically interrupt Him when we place our periods in our lives. God has plans for us. He has commas for us. I know it may sound ridiculous, but it is true. God does not want us to ever give up because He tells us that with ever hardship comes triumph. We must keep going in order to reach that triumph. We must have the courage to accept the commas that God has for us, and we must keep marching on. I know it is hard sometimes, but it will be completely worth it in the end. We just have to remember that even when we are done and feel like giving up God is still speaking. God is still unfolding beautiful plans for us, and we would only be hurting ourselves if we denied those by placing our periods.
I have complete faith in every single one of you. I know that you have everything it takes be courageous and fight through the difficulties and battles that life throws your way. You are so capable of winning over those battles! You have God on your side! All you have to do is trust Him and know that His commas will lead you to magnificent places.
Always remember that God is still speaking, so "Never place a period where God has placed a comma."
It may seem like just a comma; however, I see it as a beautiful symbol of how much bigger and more beautiful God's plan is than mine and your's.
