Happiness Comes Through Selflessness, Not Selfishness
"I have learned to give not because I have much, but because I know how it feels to have nothing."
We all know how it feels to have our feelings hurt. It can be emotionally painful, and it is definitely not fun. Usually, the one who hurts us forgets how powerful their actions can be to someone's feelings. They use their own selfish motives before they think of anyone else. It is our job to lessen this practice. We all know how it feels to be hurt, so why would we want to cause that pain on anyone else? We must start giving of ourselves, so that we can make everyone feel like their feelings matter, and that takes a whole lot of selflessness.
Nowadays, our world is full of people who find pleasure in putting themselves above everyone else. They struggle to think about others and their feelings, and how their actions may affect others. In others words, our world is full of selfish people. And these people believe that they will find true happiness when they uphold themselves above all else. Sadly, they are terribly mistaken.

Happiness comes from the essence of selflessness and putting others before yourself.
I would like to speak from personal experience. I am one of those people who likes to put the feelings of others into consideration when I am making decisions. I really do not like to hurt people or cause them any sadness or pain. Have there been times when I have fallen short of this? Most definitely! Because I am human! I have learned from my mistakes, and I have grown from them. I have seen how much pain us as humans can cause. We are awfully destructive. We can do a lot of damage if we are not careful. I don't like seeing people hurt. It truly does break my heart. So, I have made it a priority of mine to put the feelings of others before my own. Sadly, I don't get the same in return all of the time. There have been countless times when people have hurt me because they have been selfish and ignored my feelings. It hurts and it can be hard, but through all of these experiences I have discovered that I cannot quit. I cannot stop giving and caring because that is where I am my happiest, and I know that is where you will be your happiest too.
I think that we can all be a little selfish at times. I know I have been. We wouldn't be human if we were selfless all of the time. Jesus is the only completely selfless person that ever graced this earth. He committed the ultimate act of selflessness--He gave up his life. As humans, it is our duty to strive to be as selfless as Jesus. I think it is safe to argue that no-one can be as selfless as Jesus. But can we try? Yes, most definitely! We will most likely fall short of this goal at times, but we must never give up. Together, we can do this. We must be examples for those people who live selfish lives. We can work towards creating a world full of selflessness. We can do this by being selfless, self-sacrificing, self-denying, considerate, compassionate, and kind people. Will it be difficult? Maybe. Will we fail? Sometimes. Will we struggle at times? Probably. Will we give up? No. We can't give up because if we do we left selfishness win.
Selfishness versus Selflessness is an on-going battle that will most likely never end, sadly. But we must constantly keep trying. There comes a time when we must realize that the best gift we could ever give is that of caring and loving another person who isn't ourself. It is a true art to be selfless, and it is something that not everyone on this earth will accomplish.
Selflessness may be difficult, but will it be worth it? Yes.
Have a wonderful week and stay faithful, friends!
Lots of love,
Gracie
