Entering Lent

Ash Wednesday is this upcoming Wednesday, which means that Lent is almost here! I have always dreaded the season of Lent. There is not one thing that I look forward to about this season. First off, it is such a sad and depressing time of the year. I have never liked going back and hearing about all the pain and brutality that Jesus went through-it makes my heart so sad. Secondly, I do not like fasting or giving something up-it is just too much work! I am pretty sure I am not the only one who has had these feelings before, so if you have felt this way before just know that you are not alone! However, this year I have decided to change my feelings about Lent. Instead of dreading the season and going into it with a heart full of hate, I am going to be more open-minded. I have decided that Lent is not all about me. Lent is about Jesus and all the pain that he went through for us! This season is a time set aside for us to look back on all that Christ endured so that we might have eternal life without sin. He went through so much pain for us, which means that fasting and giving up a few things for 40 days should be painless for us. He made the greatest sacrifice, which means that not one sacrifice we make will ever compare to his! Lent should not be a time that we look at as sad and depressing because that is not all that it is. It is also a testimony of Christ's undying love for us because it reminds us of all he went through for US. I hope you are able to feel the love of Christ this Lent because that is ultimately what Lent is-a time to remember Christ's love for us by his dying on the cross to save our sins. I pray that this Lent you will join me in entering Lent more open-mindedly, so that we can fully immerse ourselves in remembering Christ's greatest sacrifice and love for us!

Love always,
Gracie
