Hands Up! Worries Down!
Is it just me or are new beginnings a little scary? As long as I can remember trying new things and starting something new have as always been a little frightening for me. I have always been someone who likes to think long and hard about something that is new to me before I actually try it. I used to think that because I was not someone who liked to jump in and try new things that I was different in a bad way. Have you ever felt this way? If you ever have-just know that you are not alone.
It has helped me feel so much better to know that I am not alone when I feel afraid or scared about a new beginning. Over Christmas this sense of not being alone was revealed to me even more. It was revealed to me while I was reading the book of Matthew when the angel appears to Joseph in his dream and tells him to NOT be afraid. God sent this angel to calm Jospeh's heart when he was told that Jesus was coming through the power of the Holy Spirit to save people from their sins. I began to realize that God wants to calm my heart too, just like he calmed Joseph's. Now, unlike Joseph's situation, I don't expect an angel to appear to me in my bedroom; however, I do know that God is always with me and that he is working to create a new calm heart within me.
God asks us to not be fearful because as long as we trust in him we will be truly satisfied. I have decided that one of my new year's resolutions will be that I will not let my fear be bigger than my faith. Now, it will definitely take some trial, error, and time to accomplish my resolution; however, I know that God will direct me with each step I take and that he will never leave me. Next time you find yourself having fear or worrying I challenge you to simply give God all your worries and trust in the beautiful plan that he has for you. He has a most spectacular plan in store for you and it is good. I pray that this year is a beautiful new beginning for you and that you are able to let go of all your fear and doubt. I pray that you are able to simply let God guide you though this new year because he loves you so much and he will never fail you.
Happy New Year!
Love always,
Gracie
