Time...It Just Slips Through Our Fingers
Well, there is just one more week of school left. How can it be that there are only a few more days left of our junior year? This means that exams are right in front of us, summer is just around the corner, and only a few days until we are officially seniors! I am not sure where this year went, but it went by faster than I could keep up with it. It went by in the blink of an eye...just like that.
Time. Sometimes I just feel like there is never enough of it. I am sure that you have all heard the phrase, "slipping through your fingers." Well that is exactly what I think of when I feel that time is just going by too fast. It's like trying to hold water in your bare hands or sand that just slips through your fingers when you put some in your hands.
David Levithan once said, "People say that time slips through our fingers like sand. What they don't acknowledge is that some of the sand sticks to the skin. These are memories that will remain, memories of the time when there was still time left."
I absolutely love this image. When time flies by we become sad that we will never get it back, and we tend to forget about the memories that we made. As humans, we are prone to see the worst in situations. In this case, instead of being grateful for the memories that were made we become upset that we will never get back the time that has already passed. I know I have begun to feel this way about junior year. I have only seen the sad part of it being over instead of the good memories that i made. I mean I feel like I put my head in a book for one second in August and then I looked up a second later and its May and junior year is over. Just like that.
However, I have settled with the fact that the door to junior has to close in order for the door to a new adventure to open. Yes, it's sad to watch the door to junior year shut and lock behind us, but we have to remember that all the memories we made will forever be with us and that is what is most important.
I want you to know that God always has a new adventure planned for you around the corner. He will hand you a new key to a new door. You just have to be willing to accept His new adventure for you. I know its difficult, but God has great plans in store for each and everyone of you! I know time flies and it slips through our fingers, but we just have to remember to make the most of the time that God gives us, make memories, and live life to the fullest.
See you next year--where our new adventure of senior year begins!
Have a wonderful summer and stay faithful, friends!
Much love always,
Gracie
