Who Is to Blame?
It's easy for us to be happy on certain occasions, such as our birthdays, when we get to go on some spectacular vacation, or when Friday rolls around and the weekend is underway. It is during these times of happiness that we are thankful and praising of God for blessing us with such joy. However, we tend to lose our thankfulness when we find ourselves to be in rough times. These rough times could be situations like getting into a fight with your best friend, failing a test, or maybe even losing a loved one. Who do you blame during these situations? Yourself? People around you? God? Sadly, as humans, most of the time we find ourselves blaming others instead of ourselves.
I am sure most of you are familiar with the story of the Israelites in the desert. God freed the Israelites from their enslavement in Egypt, and he opened up new doors for them. The Israelites had to walk along a LONG path in the desert in order to reach the new place God had for them. He was instructing Moses to lead them to this new place. During their time on this winding path, the Israelites began to lose their happiness in escaping Egypt, and they began to turn bitter. Their life became difficult on this path, and they blamed God for that difficulty. They forgot all about the ways God had blessed them in the past, and instead they became angry with him and blamed him for their pain. They lost their trust in God.
I think that we often find ourselves walking the same path that the Israelites were walking through the desert. There are many times in our lives when we are handed challenges that we feel we cannot face, so we blame other people and God for having these hard challenges. Life is not easy, and life will never be easy. It is simply a journey. A journey that we must be accepting and grateful of. God gave you this journey for one reason: he knew you could do it! We should make the choice to be happy and thankful on this journey. Now, of course, we will find ourselves facing difficult situations along the way. However, do not blame anyone for these situations because they are just a part of life. Instead, we should be thankful for the all the good times and blessings God has given us. We should always encourage others to be thankful as well. God will never abandon us in the rough times. He will help us overcome them. He will walk with us, hand in hand, through this journey we call life, and he will not let go of us. He will lead us into the good, which is something we should all be so thankful for.
Love always,
Gracie
